Fomi’s Bakery
There’s a new bakery in town!
Fomi’s, which has been open for just over eleven weeks, carries a beautiful assortment of pastries, poppy seed and cinnamon buns, breads, bagels, and cookies.
When I asked the friendly young woman behind the counter about the bakery, she told me that her Dad, Nicholos Fominoff, seized this opportunity that arose out of the blue. He loves to bake, and everything is baked fresh in the morning in Winlaw. He had a bakery there for seven years, but closed it a year ago. Before that, he worked at Johnny’s Bakery.
I left with a Poppy seed Snail, which is a series of poppy seed buns joined together, and tried one when I got home: Delicious! I had to have one more.
Fomi’s Bakery is locted at 323 Nelson Avenue, across from the Hume School, beside the laundromat. It’s definitely worth a try! You can call them at 250-352-0090.

You’ll have to bring your family to Fomi’s when you’re in Nelson.

Fomi’s was also very popular with cross country skiers on the Slocan Valley Rail Trail. It was a great place to stop with the kids for a treat and hot chocolate.
