Solena’s Mink Malua

Posted by Diana van Eyk on July 10th, 2011

My housemate, Solena, made this wonderful, refreshing drink from mallow and mint growing in our yard.

Her mother, Tasha, told us about the plant last night.  All parts are edible, and the leaves make a good poultice for boils, abscesses and inflammations.

Ingredients

  • 5 mallow seeds, peeled
  • 9 mint leaves
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tiny spoonful of stevia powder (the small spoon that comes with the stevia)
  • about 5 C. water

Combine all ingredients.  Refrigerate if you don’t drink it immediately.

Is there something you like to make a drink from that grows in your backyard?
